Welcome to the ICS
The ICS is a nationally and internationally renowned centre for research and teaching. We offer taught programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our full-time teaching staff of over 30 academics includes seven professors and is engaged in research for a variety of major organisations and public bodies at home and abroad and is valued by national and international policy makers.
We offer four undergraduate programmes - Broadcast Journalism, Cinema and Photography, New Media and Communications Studies.
There are five postgraduate programmes - MA in Communications Studies, MA in Political Communications, MA in International Communications, MA in International Journalism and the MA in Media Industries.

The research focus of the department allows us to offer research-led teaching across all programmes and provides wide-ranging opportunities for individual study at MPhil and PhD levels.
Research themes include: Mediated Governance, International Communications and Media, Cultural and Creative Industries, grouped around specific research centres - the Centre for Digital Citizenship (CdC), the Centre for International Communications Research (CICR), the Louis le Prince Centre (LLP), the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence (JMECE) and the Media Industries Research Centre (MIRC).
