Communities and Culture Network+ 'Not Just a Number'

The first taster of ‘Not Just a Number’ will be screened as part of the Recipe for Life showcase event at West Yorkshire Playhouse on the 16th July 2014. The film is one of the outputs from a recent collaboration between Space2, the Communities and Culture Network+ and young people living in Leeds, and is produced as part of the Communities and Culture Network+ study In/visible and un/fixed Communities.

Giorgia Aiello guest edits special issue of Visual Communication

This special issue of the international journal Visual Communication, guest edited by Dr. Giorgia Aiello, and also featuring an article by our PhD student, Toussaint Nothias, investigates the nexus of globalization and visual communication through a rich discussion of the significance of national, racial, ethnic, gender, class, embodied and emplaced differences.

'Heidegger and the Media' co-authored by Paul Taylor and David Gunkel, has been published by Polity Press. The German philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) was not someone you would like to have around for dinner and might seem to some an unlikely subject for a book about media.

Third year Broadcast Journalism student Andrew Seddon amongst five University of Leeds nominations for prestigious awards.

Broadcast Journalism student Andrew Seddon has won the prize for ‘Emerging Talent’ at the biggest regional press awards in the country. At the O2 Media Awards for Yorkshire and The Humber held at the Royal Armouries Leeds on Thursday 26 June, Andrew beat off competition from journalism students from Huddersfield and Sheffield to win the coveted award.
