Journalism Studies

Making Online News Book Cover

Recent book published by Chris Paterson of the Journalism Studies Research Group

The Journalism Studies Research Group at ICS meets regularly to bring together staff and research postgraduate students with an interest in journalism, broadly defined.  Our members consist of specialists in journalism practice and research, though most have experience in both areas, and the interests of members cut across the many strands of communications research underway at the ICS.

The Journalism Studies Research Group meets approximately monthly for presentations and discussion of research, pedagogy and current issues in journalism. Future meetings will explore potential research collaborations and provide opportunities for staff and research students to discuss their work.

For more information about the group, and to get involved in its activities, please contact the current coordinator, Julie Firmstone, j.a.firmstone@leeds.ac.uk

Recent conference:  Advancing Media Production Research

The Institute of Communications Studies hosted a one-day conference, Advancing Media Production Research,  as part of both the International Communications Association and the International Association for Media and Communication Research annual conferences. The conference took place on Monday 24 June 2013, in-between these two larger events.  More details can be found on the conference website. The conference organisers are currently editing a book based on themes explored in the conference.
