Expressing Citizenship
This project, which is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and conducted in collaboration with the Speakers’ Corner Trust, aims to learn about the barriers facing 11-18 year-olds in speaking out in public about issues that concern them. In a series of workshops and on-to-one interviews – conducted in schools, youth centres and youth theatre groups – we have worked with young people on ways of speaking confidently and persuasively. Based on findings from these sessions, and working with the BAFTA-award-winning creative agency, Bold Creative, we are currently producing an educational resource designed to help young people develop their speaking and listening skills. For more information about the project, contact the Principal Investigator, Professor Stephen Coleman.
