Communications and media are now, perhaps more than ever, at the crucial intersection of political, economic, social and cultural processes in the era of global integration. The study of these intersections is necessary, if we want to fully appreciate communication systems and processes as well as the environments that shape their technological development and use today. The interdisciplinary field of international communication seeks to explore the expressions of media dynamics on international, transnational and global levels. The Centre for International Communications Research was established as a departmental centre in 2004, to consolidate our tradition of international communications research while providing a more specialised forum for the research of existing and incoming colleagues. Out of our research derives a substantial amount of our teaching, most concretely expressed in the MA in International Communications.
